Rooted in Bolzano

Once standing isolated amidst vineyards in the north of Bolzano, the Gummerhof estate in Bolzano-Dorf was first mentioned in official documents in 1480. In 1880, Joseph Trafojer acquired the wine farm and expanded it into a winery and distillery, which was managed by Josef Trafojer Junior until 1925. In those days, the wines were even supplied to the imperial and royal (k.u.k.) court in Vienna.

In the late 1940s, son-in-law Rudolf Malojer took over the farm and winery, expanding the business. To steadily increase the variety of offerings, they also began purchasing grapes from other local growers.

In the 1980s, their son Alfred and his wife Elisabeth took over the estate. Today, it is run by their son Urban and his wife Helena — now in the fifth generation. The winery has been continuously modernized: over time, stainless steel tanks and barriques were introduced to complement the well-maintained, historic oak barrels.

Today, the Malojer Gummerhof winery is managed with the commitment to craft wines of the highest quality and genuine character — rooted in family tradition and backed by decades of experience.
